Punchmark recently welcomed Tom Moore, Front End Developer, as the newest member of the Creative Team. Tom will be tasked with building all new jewelry websites on the Punchmark platform, under the supervision of Dan Sirois, CPO & Co-Founder of Punchmark. This new addition frees up Dan to focus even more on the long term vision of all Punchmark's products.
Michael Burpoe, Director of User Experience at Punchmark, sat down with Tom to learn more.
----------------------------------------
Michael Burpoe: Hello Tom! Where does this interview find you?!
Tom Moore: Hello! I'm working from the Charlotte office, and based in Charlotte as well.
MB: Awesome, super cool to add another local to the team. Have you lived in Charlotte long?
TM: I've lived in Charlotte since late 2018, but am an NC native (Winston-Salem). I still have a ton to see and do in Charlotte due to Covid during my early time here, so I'm still exploring!
MB: That's awesome! Yeah there's a million things to do. What sort of activities do you enjoy in your free time?
TM: Day to day, I enjoy hanging out with my wife and our pug, Martin. He is pretty much the center of the universe. I also enjoy golfing and live music.
MB: Gosh your pug is VERY cute too. Shout outs to Martin. You made a dedicated instagram for him too, right? Do you want to promote it here? :)
TM: Haha thank you! We did, it's @apugnamedmartin. He needs to step up on posting content, but feel free to give him a follow.
MB: So Tom, you were hired as a Front End Developer. Can you give an overview on what your role will be at Punchmark and your responsibilities?
TM: Sure thing. I'll be working on developing new websites as well as making updates and implementing service requests to existing setups. In the future, I'll hopefully be contributing to new innovations and systems for the Punchmark product and ecosystem.
MB: Nice! And you'll be taking over for Dan, our CPO, who has been building most every website for the last... 15 years? (No pressure!) How has it been learning what makes a good jewelry website?
TM: Big shoes to fill, no doubt! It's been great so far. I think the best thing about jewelry websites is the photography/content. It's usually amazing and high quality. You don't always have access to premium content like that when making a general website.
MB: Truth! Before getting hired here, did you have any interest in jewelry or luxury? And do you currently wear any, or will this be a new frontier to explore?
TM: I've always worn an Apple watch, and now my wedding band, but that's about it. I think other watches could be a new frontier to explore! Maybe other items in the future, you never know.
MB: Absolutely. When you stare at it 40 hours a week, you'll eventually find ways to justify a purchase here or there, hahaha!
Finally, we usually like to wrap these conversations up with our new Punchmark team member picking a song for me to embed at the bottom of this blog post. What would you like your song to be?
TM: Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac
MB: Nice! Great choice.
Well thanks Tom! So excited to have you join the team!
TM: Thanks, Mike!
