Punchmark recently hired Manav Majumdar as an Intern Developer for the end of 2022 and the first half of 2023. Manav is an exceedingly driven student who caught Punchmark's eye with his involvement in multiple extracurriculars and entrepreneurial spirit. Michael Burpoe, Director of User Experience at Punchmark, sat down with Manav to get to know him better.
Michael Burpoe: Hey Manav! Where does this interview find you today?
Manav Majumdar: It finds me well, although on the brink of finals.
MB: Man, I do not miss that! Where do you go to school and what are you studying?
MM: I go to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and I study Business Analytics and Computer Science with a concentration in Data Science
MB: Wow! What made you choose that major?
MM: I've always had a knack for business, so I began with that and I've always wanted to make cool things / companies / services that just worked. From there, I realized that computer science was an amazing way to "get things done" per say, as everything is now becoming more technology based.
But once I started learning, I learned about a new field -- Data Science and after working with some data wrangling tasks, I fell in love with the statistics and machine learning aspects.
MB: Thats a great set of reasons! As our Development Intern, do you foresee yourself being able to flex those skills a little?
MM: Absolutely, and I hope so. Working on fleshing out my skills and once I have a solid footing here on how everything works, my analytical mind is not going to stop on trying to find new and creative ways to improve processes.
MB: You will be with us until May 2023 so I'm excited to see what you can accomplish once you get even more comfortable.
Outside of work, what sort of hobbies or activities keep you occupied
MM: I'm a photographer and a small business owner outside of work. Other than school, my time is also used up in gaming, adventuring, trip-making, projects, and making connections.
MB: A man of many talents and interests! I can't wait to see what you can accomplish!
