Nai Wang - Graphic Designer

Who I Am :: Personality and Interests
At the age of 15, I left my hometown Shanghai, a modern city nourished by a mixture of western and eastern cultures, for New York City to continue my visual arts study. While learning the language, I realized art is a form of personal expression. Interpretations vary depending on each viewer’s ethics, experiences, cultural backgrounds and other factors. Design captures me because it is a way of visual communication that overcomes language barriers. Throughout the years, I have been "spoken" this new language. I've learned to achieve communication goals for different clients with style and taste. When I am not working, I dance argentine tango, visit art shows, write calligraphy, sing Karaoke and enjoy yummy food.

What I do :: Skills and Expertise
Modern, sleek and clarity are my design foundations based from my four-year visual education in Rochester Institute of Technology. Also, I love to incorporate traditional hand-done pieces into my designs to spice things up. I have rich experience in the field of print, identity, editorial, packaging, web interactive, illustration and calligraphy. Currently, I am an art director at an New York based advertising agency and would like to take on freelance jobs.

How I Think :: Inspirations and Aspirations
I live and design with passion. I appreciate art in every form. Life inspires me; film, painting, music, dance, photography inspire me. I have acute clairvoyance and am always interested to see and learn new things. To me it is important for a designer to realize what has been done and to constantly think how to break through and rise above mediocrity. I have great interest in packaging design and would like to get my hands dirty with it.
Design is a language and I speak it everyday.
